Farney Community Resource and Information Centre

Farney Community Resource & Information Centre is located on the ground floor of the newly refurbished Workhouse, Shercock Road, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. The Centre was established in 1994 and, to date, has provided information, advice, training and a pathway to employment for over 18,000 members of the community, including our target groups of the marginalised and socially excluded.

With funding from Peace I, the Resource Centre ran numerous 'Accessing Employment,' and 'Start Your Own Business' courses that were of great benefit to the entire community. Working in conjunction with local employers, FÁS, the Department of Social, Community & Family Affairs, and Co. Monaghan Partnership and VEC, we have placed over 500 persons in full and part-time employment, and 600 persons on training and back-to-education courses.

In conjunction with Co. Monaghan Partnership, Dept of Social Welfare and Co. Monaghan Enterprise Board, the Centre has supported a further 140 persons to become self-employed and continues to support them in the running of their micro-businesses.
