About
us
In 1999,
Farney Community Development Group Ltd. secured a long-term
lease on the Workhouse from its current owners - Lakeland
Dairies Co-operative Society Ltd. We are a company limited
by guarantee with Charitable Status working to boost the social,
community and economic potential of Farney. Therefore, the
primary aim of the Workhouse is to operate as a one-stop shop
for various community groups and agencies operating in the
area, to allow them to integrate together to offer services
such as, information provision, training, and employment opportunities
to our community. For a list of groups operating from the
workhouse today, click here >>

Funding
Funding under the Peace I & II Programmes has enabled
us to establish and co-ordinate cross border, cross community
exchanges with two partner groups in Belfast. Promoting peace
and reconciliation, these exchanges have included youth groups,
senior citizens, women's groups, historical groups, and information
and employment workshops, with over 400 participants to date.
On behalf
of the community of South Co. Monaghan, Farney Community Development
Group Ltd. wish to gratefully thank the funding agencies that
have continually supported the restoration of the Workhouse,
in particular, the Peace I and II Programmes, administered
by Area Development Management Ltd. and the Combat Poverty
Agency.
